Foursquare Indomitas - velier 62%

€185.00

Foursquare Indomitas 2010 is a prestigious rum produced at the renowned Foursquare distillery in Barbados and bottled by the Italian deinpendent bottler Velier. It is an intense, structured, and complex rum, very much in the signature Foursquare style: powerful yet well balanced, combining the smoothness of bourbon casks with the fruity depth brought by cognac casks.

Foursquare Indomitas is the result of the collaboration between Luca Gargano and Richard Seale, a partnership launched in 2016 to create distinctive Barbadian rums. This release is based on a blend of distillates produced using two different methods:

One portion of the rum is distilled in a pot still.

- The other comes from a traditional Coffey column still. After distillation, the two rums follow separate aging paths before being blended together.

- The pot still distillate was aged for 15 years in ex-bourbon casks. The column still rum underwent double maturation: first 6 years in ex-bourbon casks, followed by 9 additional years in former cognac casks.

The entire aging process took place under tropical conditions in Barbados, allowing the rum to develop quickly and intensively. The result is a release with a rich, structured, and highly expressive aromatic profile.

This rum is a limited edition, highly sought after by enthusiasts and collectors of fine sipping rums.

Nose: Rich aromas of toasted oak, ripe fruit and dried fruit, with notes of caramel, vanilla, cocoa, and spices. Subtle hints reminiscent of cognac bring a refined, slightly vinous character.

Palate: A powerful and dense opening (driven by the 62% ABV), revealing flavors of toasted caramel, mocha, and candied fruit. The structure is marked by pronounced oak, complemented by spices and dark fruit.

Finish: Long and warming, lingering on notes of oak, cocoa, and spice.

THE BRAND

The Foursquare distillery is now considered one of the most modern rum distilleries in the world. It is owned by the Seale family, who have been established in Barbados since 1926 as rum merchants. The distillery produces different styles of rum using several types of stills. A lighter style is distilled in a three-column still, while a more powerful and robust rum is produced in a pot still. In addition to its renowned spiced rum, Foursquare also produces a full range of expressions including white rum, amber rum, and aged rum.

THE MERCHANT

The house of Velier was founded in 1947 by the Chaix family. Based in the port city of Genoa, the company focused between 1953 and 1983 on the import and distribution of wines, champagnes, and spirits.

At the age of just 25, Luca Gargano acquired shares in Velier. He decided to steer the company in a new direction by specializing in the import of rare, high-quality spirits for some of Italy’s most prestigious establishments. This strategic shift gave Velier a strong new momentum.

In the early 1990s, through his network, Luca Gargano heard about an almost mythical stock of Saint James rum, reportedly distilled at the end of the 19th century. For a long time surrounded by mystery, the existence of this rum was eventually confirmed: a distillate produced in 1885 and bottled in 1952.

After lengthy negotiations, Luca Gargano succeeded in acquiring the entire stock in 1991 and introduced it to the Italian market. This discovery proved to be a turning point and paved the way for numerous selections of exceptional rums. Since then, Velier has established itself as a leading name in the world of premium spirits, renowned for the authenticity and quality of its bottlings.
